Scarring

Scarring

A scar is simply an overgrowth of collagen that forms as a natural part of the healing process following injury to the skin. There are a few factors that determine the severity of a scar, including the size and location of the wound, and the patient’s age and skin colour.

There are many kinds of scars that come from many different conditions, such as acne scars, surgery scars, chicken pox and keloid scars.

Laser scar treatment is an advanced approach to scar treatment that offers excellent results without the discomfort and downtime of surgery.

Ablative and non-ablative laser, and fractional resurfacing are all treatments that reduce the prominence of scar tissue.

Ablative lasers are the “gold standard” of lasers for dermatological treatments. They ablate the skin with a degree of precision that can be measured in microns. This makes it possible to safely and gently remove a wide variety of lesions from the skin at epidermis and dermis level, including scars and stretch marks.

The MCL31 Dermablate laser offers the possibility to carry out full ablative and non-ablative resurfacing and fractional treatments of the skin.

Tixel uses fractionated heat in the form of tiny pyramids that briefly touch the skin, triggering collagen formation and skin renewal.

The Bios Erbium YAG and Erbium Glass Hand pieces are also suitable options on the Bios Superbium platform.
