Stretch Marks

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are the result of the rapid stretching of the skin associated with rapid growth (common in puberty) or weight gain (e.g. pregnancy). Stretch marks are also associated with obesity, and can develop during rapid muscle growth from regular exercise. Most popular areas for treatment include biceps, stomach, thighs and love handles.

Stretch marks first appear as reddish or purple lines, but tend to gradually fade to a lighter color. In their early stages, they are present as inflammation with dilated capillaries, which results in a pink or purple appearance. During this stage, treatment with a vascular laser is preferred, particularly at a wavelength with high absorption in oxyhemoglobin - 577nm.

In the terminal phase, stretch marks appear hypo-pigmented and fibrotic. In this phase, ablative treatments are the preferred option in order to trigger neocollagenesis and reduce the appearance of the scar by effectively healing the scar from within.

The QuadroStar Pro Yellow vascular laser uses the optimal 577nm wavelength to flatten the edges of scars, and create visible improvements in skin texture and in the colour of the scar, making it less noticeable.

Tixel offers impressive results showing off what pure targeted heat can do in only 1-3 treatments, regardless of skin type.
